Seafood

Seafood shipments are unforgiving in terms of perishability. In short there is no secondary market for warm fish. Our 24 hour seafood department ensures your shipment is immediately recovered from the airport or ocean port and placed in storage at the proper temperature.

    Seafood Handling Procedure:
  • Receive product and palletize onto appropriate wooden skids.
  • Verify quantity of boxes and match against packing list.
  • Check for damaged boxes and replace if necessary.
  • Take and record arrival temperatures.
  • Place into seafood storage cooler to await distribution instructions.
  • Update inventory and transmit Receiving report to client.

Example of a Client Success
Problem: Recently a sample air shipment of frozen clams arrived in transit and was relegated to the freezer storage at the airline's service center. Unfortunately these freezers are often not cooled at the proper temperature. Nearly 60% of the clams were lost and so was the client opportunity.

Solution: A-1 operates 24 hours per day and 7 days per week so the second shipment of clams was picked-up immediately and placed in our -20 degree storage freezer.

Results: The importer was able to get the samples to the client on time and intact. As a result of the excellent quality of the sample they purchased several hundred containers.
